About a boy.

My oldest daughter is a snob. Where she gets it from is beyond me, although i may have had snob tendencies when i was a middle schooler. Either way, she's the typical pretty, bouncy, cheerleader type. The ones that some of us love to hate.

This morning on her way out the door to cheer practice, i saw she had her extra clothes in a camo back pack. This simply shocked the shit out of me. Camo-wear is not a color or style in her world. People who go to the woods, (Like the rest of us in our home) people who bog in the mud, hunt, fish, camp..... ya know, that country life we enjoy, are a waste of air to her. Yet she is toting a camo backpack versus the UCA Cheer back pack she absolutely had to have because god forbid she be the only cheerleader in the world to not own one.

A camo backpack. Because of a boy. She has this boyfriend, whom we've all know for years, one that she's gone through elementary school with, we know his life, his parents, his hobbies, his behavior, etc. and he is influencing my daughter.

14 years on this earth camping and hunting and living the country lifestyle with her family has nothing to do with her suddenly wanting to go mud bogging this weekend. It's 1 month with this boy.

We get no credit whatsoever. But at least now she's enjoying the river with us instead of staying home with her face glued to my-space and her ipod.

But then again, he was there that day too.
